A section of Dunlop Street East in downtown Barrie will be closed this week as part of the Poyntz Street reconstruction project.
North Rock Group and its sub-contractors working for the City of Barrie requires a full road closure on Dunlop East between Mulcaster and Collier streets, tentatively from 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7 until approximately 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9.
The closure is required to perform work related to the Poyntz Street project, which includes replacement of a transmission watermain servicing the east end of the city. The existing infrastructure along the roadway is also nearing the end of its useful life and requires replacement, according to the city.
Access for residents within the closure to be maintained and emergency services will have access to respond within the closure, but not to travel through it.
Detour route in effect: Dunlop Street East – Mulcaster Street – Collier Street – Blake Street.
