On Nov. 14, County of Simcoe Paramedic Services celebrated the achievements of its dedicated team members during their annual Commencement and Honours Ceremony.
The event recognized new recruits, employees marking significant career advancements, and individuals who received Chief’s Commendations.
For only the second time in its history, the Legacy Award — the highest internal honour — was presented to two deserving individuals, primary care paramedic Jeff Pagé and deputy chief Shane Smith, further highlighting the exceptional talent and commitment within the service.
Paramedic services employs full- and part-time advanced and primary care paramedics, supervisors, and administrative support staff. Paramedics provide emergency medical response and community support to Simcoe County residents, utilizing 42 ambulance and rapid response units across the region during peak times.
“Our County of Simcoe paramedics play a vital role in our emergency response system, and the safety and well-being of our residents,” said Warden Basil Clarke. “Their dedication, professionalism, and compassion to those in need is nothing short of extraordinary. This event allows us to take a moment to recognize and thank them for the countless lives they touch, and for the courage and professionalism they demonstrate every day in the face of adversity, while welcoming in the next generation of paramedics.”
