Snow squall watch issued for:

  •    Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale
  •    Owen Sound - Blue Mountains - Northern Grey County

Current details:
Lake effect snow squalls possible beginning this evening.

Hazards:
Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations of 10 to 20 cm.
Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour possible.
Significantly reduced visibility in heavy snow.

Timing:
This evening to Sunday morning.

Discussion:
Lake effect snow squalls off Georgian Bay are expected to develop this evening and continue through Saturday. Snow squalls will taper to flurries Sunday morning.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. If you must travel, keep others informed of your schedule and destination and carry an emergency kit and mobile phone.
