WEATHER ALERT
ENVIRONMENT CANADA
*************************
Snow squall warning replaces snow squall watch for:
Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale, Ont.
Innisfil - New Tecumseth - Angus, Ont.
Current details:
Lake effect snow squalls expected.
Hazards:
Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations of 20 to 50 cm by Thursday evening.
Additional accumulations possible Friday.
Poor visibility at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.
Timing:
Beginning late tonight and continuing through Thursday night.
Additional snow squalls possible Friday.
Discussion:
Lake effect snow squalls off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay will develop in the wake of a low pressure system. Northwest winds gusting up to 60 km/h can result in blowing snow and significantly reduced visibility at times.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
