A report to city police of a suspicious person spotted behind a south end Barrie school last night turned out to be a social media filmmaker.

On Aug. 15, just before midnight, officers received a call for a suspicious person who was seen near an elementary school located on Little Avenue.

According to police, the call came after a city transit driver observed a man dressed in black, wearing a mask and carrying a backpack who was seen going behind the school.

Police immediately responded and located a youth behind the school and quickly determined he was in the process of making a YouTube video.

Police said it was “obvious” there was nothing criminal in nature taking place, and after speaking to the involved youth, he "quickly realized" the way he was dressed, and due to the time of the night, created a level of concern which prompted the police response.

“Barrie police wish to thank the attentive transit driver, as their late-night observations and timely actions can serve as an example to others, especially during the overnight hours,” they added.
