A swim advisory has been posted at Barrie's popular Centennial Beach.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has recommended the swim advisory be posted due to elevated bacteriological results from samples taken on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
Resampling was scheduled to take place this afternoon, according to the city, with results expected by the end of the day on Friday.
During a swimming advisory, the beach is posted with warning signs indicating that the most recent water samples showed bacteria in numbers that may increase a person's risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose or throat infections or stomach illness. If a person chooses to swim during an advisory, they should avoid dunking their head or swallowing the water.
