Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier Doug Ford made the drive to Alliston today for an announcement at the Honda manufacturing plant.
They are expected to make a significant funding announcement related to electric-vehicle production.
Earlier this week, The Canadian Press reported Honda Canada is set to build an electric vehicle battery plant near its auto manufacturing facility in Alliston, located in southern Simcoe County, where it also plans to produce fully electric vehicles.
Also scheduled to be on hand today are Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Vic Fedeli and Minister of Finance Peter Bethlenfalvy, as well as Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, who is also finance minister, and Minister of Innovation, Science François-Philippe Champagne from the federal level.
They are expected to speak at 10 a.m.
