Saying “yes” to Encore paid off for James Vint of Wasaga Beach.
James matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the June 21, 2024 Lotto Max draw to win $100,000.
James, an entrepreneur, has been a weekly lottery player with OLG for 15 years. He loves to play Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 and always makes sure to add Encore to his tickets.
“I was in my garage when I scanned my ticket on the OLG app, and thought I won $100,” James recalled, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his winnings. “After a second glance, I saw more zeros and froze. It was an unreal moment.”
“I went inside the house, put the ticket down in front of my fiancée, and said, ‘Watch this,’ as I scanned it again. She was so excited for me and kept saying, ‘Oh, my God,’ over and over again,” James smiled.
“It’s crazy. I never really expected to win. It doesn’t sink in right away, but when it does, you’re like, ‘Holy smokes. It happened,’” he concluded.
For the time being, James plans to invest his winnings.
Encore offers 22 ways to win and can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an extra $1. There are two Encore draws every day.
The winning ticket was purchased at West River Convenience on River Road in Wasaga Beach.
