GREEN HAVEN SHELTER FOR WOMEN

Green Haven Shelter for Women and North Simcoe Victim Services (NSVS) are proud to present a critical community round table focused on gender-based violence, taking place on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Centre on Peter Street North in Orillia.
The event will feature an esteemed panel of experts and survivors dedicated to raising awareness, providing support, and fostering collaboration in the fight against gender-based violence in north Simcoe.
Linda Reid, executive director of Green Haven Shelter for Women, will deliver the opening remarks, setting the tone for a powerful evening of discussion.
This event will be moderated by Senator Gwen Boniface, who will guide the conversation with her vast experience and dedication to ending intimate partner violence, especially in rural areas across Canada.

This year alone, 39 confirmed cases of femicide have occurred in the province of Ontario.
“This event is a significant opportunity for community members, health-care professionals, law enforcement, and educators to come together to discuss the challenges and solutions surrounding gender based violence,” said Reid. “It underscores our ongoing commitment to supporting women in crisis and fostering a community that can support survivors and their families.”
