North Americans will see her and hearing her music at points all over the continent. Wednesday,
Emma-Lee first burst onto the Canadian music scene in 2009 with Never Just a Dream, following it up with Backseat Heroine in 2012. As a songwriter, her music has been heard on TV programs like Teen Wolf, Saving Hope and Degrassi: The Next Generation.
She has also co-written songs for Kira Isabella, River Town Saints, Madeleine Merlo, and Alee, among many others.
Emma-Lee’s first taste of mainstream radio success came last year with her single Worst Enemy, which peaked at No.18 on adult contemporary charts across the country.
In short, the lady gets around. But whistle-stopping at train stations at hamlets continent-wide and singing to a Yuletide-enthused throng is something else. Emma-Lee tells BarrieToday the initial thought gave her a special buzz.
“When I got the invitation to perform on the CP Rail Holiday Train saying ‘yes’ was a no-brainer! The chance to raise food and funds for those in need while performing holiday music and bringing people across Canada a little joy was impossible to turn down!”
She admits her impressions of James, her railcar mate, are non-existent; the train doesn’t take off till this Sunday, and the two haven’t met yet.
But back to the music end of things; Emma-Lee anticipates a big demand for her Christmas song, released last year, and called, ironically, It Won’t Be Christmas, which “will be heard at every stop on the holiday train and also playing on radio stations across Canada now.”
As for her favourite Christmas tune that was not hers, Emma-Lee refuses to be pinned down.
“I have so many! All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah (Carey is one), The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire) by Nat King Cole, Do You Hear What I Hear?, the Whitney Houston version, and all the Charlie Brown Christmas songs.”
In January, she will be releasing the second half of her new album Fantasies: Volume 2, combining the release with a concert at The Drake Hotel in
