On Sunday, June 2, three students from Rei Karate-Do, located in the south end of Barrie, participated in the Toronto Open 2024 international karate tournament.

This marks Rei Karate-Do’s first time competing in an Ontario Karate Federation event. We would like to express our pride in our athletes and our distinct appreciation to Raki Shihan for his leadership, guidance and bringing a piece of Japan right into Barrie.

Congratulations to Keaton Roy and Ariel Ornes for their second- and third-place finishes in kumite (sparring), respectively. Respect also goes out to Matthew Fletcher, who competed above his own category as to ensure he had competition.

“Congratulations on your incredible victory at this karate tournament. This is just the beginning of our journey at Rei Karate-Do Canada. Let’s aim even higher for future competitions and achieve our goals together,” says Raki Shihan.
