BARRIE - David Alvarez’s single to score Graham Tebbit capped a three-run ninth inning to give the Brantford Red Sox a 4-3 win over the Barrie Baycats Sunday during Intercounty Baseball League action.

The big inning began to get results when Tebbit singled to score Jeremie Veilleux, before Jordyn Smith scored on a wild pitch.

The Baycats gave their home crowd plenty to choose from in the first inning thanks to back-to-back RBI doubles from Ryan Rijo and Malik Williams.

Isaiah Ramos earned the win on the Red Sox bump, while Brandon Hillier took the loss.

The Red Sox (7-12) now hit the road against the Guelph Royals Monday at 1 p.m. The Baycats (11-6) are on the road Monday against the London Majors at 6:05 p.m.

Wild finish gives Maple Leafs the win

TORONTO - Greg Carrington crossed home plate thanks to a wild pitch in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Toronto Maple Leafs a 7-6 come-from-behind win over the London Majors Sunday during Intercounty Baseball League action.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Dan Marra singled to score Lucas Alberti to tie the game up and put it to extra innings. Offensively, Ryan Dos Santos and Johnathan Solazzo hit home runs.

Kaiden Cardoso, Starling Joseph, Eduardo De Oleo, and Victor Plaz all had homers for the Majors.

Julian Valdez got the win for the Maple Leafs, while Jonathan Henry was tagged with the loss. Starter Jesse Hodges had six strikeouts in five innings of work for the Maple Leafs. Majors starter Jose Arias was solid in seven innings, striking out eight.

The Maple Leafs (7-14) are on the road holiday Monday against the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers at 6:05 p.m., while the Majors (12-6) are also in action Monday when they host the Baycats at 6:05 p.m.

Jackfish need to come from behind to win again

CHATHAM - Matteo Porcellato doubled to score Robert Mullen in the top of the ninth inning to give the Welland Jackfish a 4-3 win over the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers Sunday during Intercounty Baseball League action.

Down by one heading into the top half of the ninth, Robert Mullen hit a single to score Caleb Feuerstake to tie the game.

The fourth inning is where the Barnstormers took the lead, manufacturing three runs on one hit.

Danny Howat was on record to get the win on the Jackfish mound, striking out two. Garret Day was tagged with the loss.

The win was the 12th in a row for the Jackfish (15-3). They host the Hamilton Cardinals Monday at 6:05 pm. The Barnstormers drop to 7-13 and host the Toronto Maple Leafs Monday at 6:05 p.m.

Royals start strong and hold off Cardinals

HAMILTON - Three RBI singles in the second inning were the catalyst, leading the Guelph Royals tl a 6-2 win over the Hamilton Cardinals Sunday during Intercounty Baseball League action.

J.D. Rosario and Ryosuke Ohashi each had a single to score one in that second inning, while J.D. Williams’ single scored a pair.

Zach Marriott had a pair of hits to lead the Cards’ offence.

Hector Yan got the win for the Royals striking out four in five innings of work, while Cardinals starter Brett Lawson was tagged with the loss.

The Royals improve to 10-6 and host the Brantford Red Sox Monday at 1pm. The Cardinals are no 9-9 and visit the Jackfish Monday at 6:05 p.m.
