Mother Nature held off long enough for the Barrie Baycats on Tuesday.

Barrie scored four times in the first two innings and hung on for a rain-shortened, five-inning 4-3 win over Hamilton at Vintage Throne Stadium.

Malik Williams’ two-run single opened the scoring in the first inning. Nolan Machibroda scored two batters later on a wild pitch. Hayden Jaco drove in the other run.

Barrie starting pitcher Chris Lazar (2-0) picked up the win. He went 4.2 innings and allowed three runs on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Barrie improved to 19-9.

For Hamilton (14-19), Luis Bernardo, Connor Hicks and Josh Niles all drove in a run. Steven Hospital suffered the loss on the mound after yielding four runs on four hits in two innings. He walked two and struck out one.
