Baycats get walk-off win over Barnstormers

Noel McGarry-Doyle’s single in the bottom of the ninth inning scored Rick Phillips to give the Barrie Baycats a 3-2 walk-off win over the Chatham-Kent çBarnstormers Saturday during Intercounty Baseball League action.
Juan Benitez went the distance, striking out three to get the win on the mound for the BayCats.Garret Day took the loss.
McGarry-Doyle also hit a single in the third inning to score a pair of runs to give the home team a lead.
Lee Kucera hit a homerun for the visiting Barnstormers.
The Baycats improve to 13-7 and visit the Guelph Royals Sunday at 7:30 pm, while the Barnstormers (8-15) travel to Brantford to take on the Red Sox on Friday at 8 pm.

Jackfish strike early to hold off Majors

The Welland Jackfish scored early and often to secure a 6-4 win over the London Majors Saturday during Intercounty Baseball League action.
Singles from Robert Mullen, Matteo Porcellato, and Brandon Hupe all scored one run each for the Jackfish in the home half of the first inning. Mullen also added two more RBI.
Byron Reichstein hit a solo homerun for the Majors in the fourth inning, while Gibson Krzeminski hit a three-run blast in the sixth.
Enrique Saldana picked up the win on the mound, striking out nine in five innings of work. Travis Keys was tagged with the loss.
The Jackfish (17-4) are on the road Sunday against the Brantford Red Sox at 2 pm, while the Majors (14-7) are on the road Sunday against the Kitchener Panthers at 8 pm.

Royals win in extra innings

The Guelph Royals scored two times in the bottom of the 10th inning to earn a 5-4 walk-off win over the Hamilton Cardinals Saturday during Intercounty Baseball League action.
Evan Ashe led the Royals offence with two RBI and a double. Dennis Dei Baning swung the big stick for the Cardinals, with two hits and three RBI.
Yuki Narita earned the win on the mound for the Royals, while Casey Bouillere-Howard was tagged with the loss. Cardinals starter Mizuki Akatsuka was fantastic, striking out nine in six innings of work.
The Royals improve to 11-7 and host the Barrie Baycats Sunday at 7:30 pm, while the Cardinals, now 10-10 hit the road Sunday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
