ELITES VOLLEYBALL CLUB GLACIER U16
*************************
Elites Volleyball Club Glacier U16 Girls team visited Barrie’s SPCA Animal Shelter over the weekend. The team and their families were educated on the process of adoptions, stray animals, and providing shelter and necessities for animals waiting for their forever home.
There are currently 13 cats and seven dogs at the shelter waiting for a home. Ten additional dogs are in foster care as there is not enough room at the Barrie SPCA.
“Our goal is to keep people and pets together,” said Shannon LaFlamme, community outreach co-ordinator of the Barrie SPCA Animal Shelter.
The local shelter sees 700 to 800 animals a year, and of that number 400 to 500 are adopted in our community. The non-profit organization functions solely by local donations, and support from corporate sponsors.
Volunteers are always needed with such duties as event assistance, driving, and shelter chores. If interested in volunteering an application may be found on the SPCA website.
Regarding adoption you may contact the Barrie SPCA Animal Shelter at 705-728-7311, ontariospca.ca/barrie or by visiting the establishment.
The Glacier U16 Girls team presented the SPCA with a basket filled with requested items and financial donation for food. The Glacier team selected the local SPCA as their Christmas Cheer choice this year as every player on the team has a family pet.
