BARRIE TROJAN SWIM CLUB

Thirteen swimmers from the Barrie Trojan Swim Club competed at the 2020 Winter Ontario Swimming Champs, held in Scarborough at the Toronto Pan Am Swimming Centre March 5-8, 2020.
BTSC had a goal to qualify swimmers for the Canadian Olympic Trials to be held at this same pool next month, they conquered that goal with four swims.
Erika Thomas, 15, led the team with 67 points and qualified for two more events for Olympic Trials. Her 200 IM qualified with a time of 2:24.10 (10th in Canada for 15-year-old female) and the 400 IM with a time of 5:05.73 (6th in Canada for 15-year-old female), in which she also earned the bronze medal. Thomas also made finals in the 100 free, 200 breast and 100 breast events.
Ajete Eggers, 16, (27 points) qualified in both the 100 fly, with a time of 1:02.99 (5th in Canada for 16-year-old female) and the 200 fly in 2:20.75 (6th in Canada for 16-year-old female). Both times were BTSC club records as well!
Julia Denes, 12 (34 points), also established several club records in the 100 fly, 1:08.81 and the 400 IM 5:21.98 placing 6th in the process, and 4th in Canada for 12-year-old females.
Jordi Vilchez, 14 (34 points), was the top male swimmer for the Trojans making several top 10 swims in 200 IM, 400 IM and 100 free. His 400 IM placed him 4th in the championship and 9th in Canada for 14-year-old males.
Emma Lee Jacques, 13 (33 points), had another outstanding meet, earning a silver medal in the 1500 free and several top 10 finishes in the 400 free, 800 free and 400 IM. She ranks sixth in Canada for 13-year-old females.
Laila Oravksy, 13 (29 points), has been on a roll breaking her own club record each time she swims a personal best for her 100 and 200 Breast. She placed 5th and 4th respectively and ranks 7th and 13th in Canada for 13-year-old females.
