17-year-old charged with impaired driving

A male passenger of the vehicle was ejected and located nearby. He was transported to hospital where he is in critical condition

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH - On Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 at approximately 3:08 a.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), assisted by members of the New Tecumseth Fire Department and Simcoe County Paramedics, responded to a single vehicle rollover into the ditch on Industrial Parkway near Church Street in Alliston.

When officers arrived, a yellow Chevrolet Cobalt was located in the ditch. Through further police investigation it was determined that the male driver had been consuming alcohol and he was arrested.

A male passenger of the vehicle was ejected and located nearby, he was transported to hospital where he is in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle, along with another male passenger and a female passenger were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 17-year-old male driver of New Tecumseth Township was charged with:

  • dangerous operation of motor vehicle cause bodily harm (x3)
  • exceed 80 milligrams blood alcohol content / motor vehicle / cause accident with bodily harm (x3)
  • driving while ability impaired cause bodily harm (x3)

The accused was released from custody and will attend a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford. The investigation is still ongoing.
