ESSA TWP. — A man has been arrested in connection with several break-ins that recently occurred at residences and businesses in Angus.
On Dec. 30, Nottawasaga OPP officers responded to a report of a break-in at a business, where two suspects broke the front-door glass, stole items and fled.
On Dec. 31, shortly before 4 a.m., officers were called to a break-and-enter in progress at the Ultramar gas station and Uplift Cannabis store at 165 Mill St. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived.
The suspects also smashed the front doors of several other businesses, OPP stated in a news release.
On Dec. 31, shortly before midnight, police were called to Angus Variety at 9 Margaret St. The suspects had fled before officers arrived. Video footage of the suspects was obtained from several businesses.
On Jan. 6, police responded to several break-ins at homes on Brentwood Road, where power tools and other items were stolen from sheds.
On Thursday, shortly before 1 p.m., officers arrested Keith James, also known as Keith Ledyit, 49, at a Brentwood Road address. He has been charged with eight counts of break, enter a place (commit an indictable offence), one count of obstructing police and nine counts of breach of probation.
None of the allegations have been tested in court.
The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing Friday in Bradford.
