Assault victim transported to hospital with serious injuries

TOWNSHIP OF ESSA - On Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at approximately 10:46 p.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of an assault on King Street in Angus.

Upon police arrival, a 42-year-old male was located and had sustained injuries to his leg from an edge weapon. The male was transported to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries. 

Through further police investigation, it was determined that a verbal altercation had escalated between the victim and another male who was identified.

Police have arrested a 61-year-old male from Angus. The accused has been charged with aggravated assault and uttering threats cause death or bodily harm. He will be held for Barrie bail court on June 28, 2018.
