A Barrie man has been charged with impaired driving following a traffic stop in the Bayfield Street area early Sunday morning.
Huronia West OPP says officers responded to a traffic complaint around 3:15 a.m. on Dec. 1 about a possible impaired driver in Barrie. The vehicle was located, stopped and officers administered a roadside test using an alcohol-screening device.
Alberto Carrion Alvarez, 31, of Barrie, has been charged with adult operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80 plus) and adult operation while impaired (alcohol and drugs).
The previous evening, at around 7 p.m. on Nov. 30, officers also responded to multiple traffic complaints about a possible impaired driver in the area of River Road West in Wasaga Beach.
Officers located the vehicle on Fernbrook Drive and conducted a traffic stop. Police say officers noticed an odour of alcohol and again administered a roadside test using an alcohol-screening device.
Armin Balog, 29, of North York, has been charged with adult operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80 plus) and adult operation while impaired (alcohol and drugs).
None of the allegations have been tested in court in either investigation.
Both of the accused are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
