A 15-year-old boy is facing charges after he was pulled over by Barrie police Monday.

At 3:42 a.m. on July 22, police say an officer on patrol in the area of Essa Road and Gowan Street noticed a vehicle being driven without its tail lights on.

The vehicle was pulled over and the driver, being 15 years old, did not have a driver’s licence.

Police say he was also in possession of cannabis and a large knife.

Officers drove the boy home and he was released to the custody of a parent.

He is facing charges including breach of recognizance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, driving a motor vehicle without a proper rear light, driving a motor vehicle with no licence, being younger than 19 while possessing cannabis, and driving with cannabis readily available.

He has an August court date in Barrie.
