Barrie police have closed off Cedar Pointe Drive in the city for an ongoing investigation Wednesday morning.

Update (12:15 p.m.): Barrie police say the incident on Cedar Point Drive has concluded and business will be returning to normal shortly in the area.

"The Barrie Police Service appreciate the patience and understanding of all those affected by this morning’s call for service," says a post on social media.

Barrie police have closed Cedar Point Drive from Dunlop Street West to Edgehill Drive this morning while they investigate a “suspicious incident.”

“It’s very fluid as we speak. It’s isolated,” police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday from the scene. “We’ve got part of the area here on Cedar Pointe Drive evacuated safely without incident."

Leon said an update will be provided as the investigation permits.

At 10:30 a.m. on June 19, police responded to an incident at an undisclosed business located on Cedar Pointe Drive.
