Barrie Police part of multi-agency fraud investigation

A suspect involved in two separate attempted fraud incidents in Barrie has been identified as the suspect wanted in similar fraud investigations throughout southwestern Ontario

Barrie Police Service is looking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in two separate identity frauds that occurred in the City of Barrie.

On Friday, March 16, 2018, an unknown suspect first entered the TD Canada Trust at 53 Ardagh Rd. and then attempted his hoax at the TD Canada Trust at 534 Bayfield St., both in the City of Barrie. 

The suspect presented a fraudulent Ontario Drivers Licence and attempted to gain access to the victim’s bank account, requesting a replacement bank card. Bank employees at both locations were suspicious of the ID provided, believing it to be fraudulent and declined to provide service.

Further investigation led to information that the suspect was wanted in similar fraud investigations throughout southwestern Ontario and multiple agencies are working together to obtain the suspect's identity. 

Description:

  • Male, white
  • Approximately 6'0" tall and medium build
  • Short thinning brown hair and clean shaven
  • Wearing black short sleeve collared shirt, black pants and large gold chain necklace
