Barrie police raid three north-end locations in ongoing investigation

One of the raids occurred in the Penetang Street area, while another took place at home on Livingstone Street West

Barrie police have confirmed multiple tactical raids took place in the city’s north end Wednesday afternoon.

Peter Leon, the department’s communication co-ordinator, told BarrieToday he was unable to share details of the incidents as the investigation is still underway.

“There were three locations in the city of Barrie yesterday and they were all related to the same investigation,” he said. “The investigation is isolated and specific in nature.

"We will provide details where and when the investigation permits," Leon added.

One of the raids occurred in the area Penetang Street, while a second took place at a home on Livingstone Street West.

Leon confirmed the department’s tactical support unit, as well as the armoured vehicle known as Rescue 1, were involved.

“It shows the level of professionalism that was utilized when you call in the resources that we have,” he said.

Leon was unable to provide specific details about whether any arrests were made or charges laid as a result, noting those “remain part of the ongoing investigation."
