MIDLAND, ON - March 24, 2018 at 2:03 a.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Central Region Communications Centre received a call from a member of the public of a vehicle travelling north bound in the southbound lanes of Highway 400 near Horseshoe Valley Road in Springwater Township.
Two officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment were dispatched to observe for the wrong way vehicle and did locate and stop with out incident the vehicle at 2:13 a.m. at Vasey Road in Tay Township.
The officers upon speaking with the lone female driver entered into a drinking and driving investigation and transported the driver back to Southern Georgian Bay Detachment for further investigation.
As a result of that investigation a 40-year-old female from Barrie has been charged with the following driving offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 249 (1) (a).
- Driving while having Care or Control over 80 mgs contrary to section 253(1) (b).
and further
- Drive wrong way - Divided highway contrary to section 156 (1) (a) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario
Her vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for seven days and further her driver's license is suspended for 90 Days under the Administrative Driver's License Suspension (ADLS) and was released on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on April 12, 2018
