Bradford death ruled homicide after man's body recovered from canal: police

Police say male victim has ties to Toronto, but his identity has not been released pending notification of next-of-kin

The South Simcoe Police Service is investigating after a body was recovered from the canal on Friday, April 15, 2022, at approximately 1:30 p.m., in the area of Canal Road between Simcoe Road and 5th Line in Bradford.

The South Simcoe Police Service Criminal Investigation Bureau is working closely with the York Regional Police Forensic Identification Unit on the case.

A post-mortem examination was completed Sunday at the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto, which revealed the male victim died as the result of a homicide.

Police have determined the victim has ties to Toronto. His next-of-kin have not yet been notified.

The investigation is ongoing and further details, including the victim's identity and cause of death, will not be released at this time nor will media interviews be provided. Further information will be released when deemed appropriate.
