Barrie police have arrested and charged three teens with first-degree murder in connection to Friday evening's fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy on River Ridge Road in the city's south end.
Police, including uniformed patrol officers, the canine unit and the tactical support unit, responded to a report of a shooting in the Hurst Drive and Golden Meadow Road area at approximately 6 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 19.
Barrie police say investigators worked through the night and over the weekend to identify, locate and arrest the suspects without incident.
Charged are:
- an 18-year-old male, arrested Saturday, Nov. 20
- an 17-year-old male, arrested Sunday, Nov. 21
- an 17-year-old male, arrested Sunday, Nov. 21
City police say the investigation is continuing, however detectives are not actively searching for any additional suspects.
Police continue to believe this was an isolated incident and there are no concerns for public safety.
The 18-year-old male appeared in WASH (Weekend and Statutory Holiday) Court on Sunday, Nov. 21 and was remanded into custody before his next court appearance on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021. City police declined to release his name when asked by BarrieToday.
Both 17-year-old males are in custody awaiting a bail hearing on Monday, Nov. 22. Their names are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
