It took only one hour for South Simcoe Police to charge two people with impaired driving Thursday night.

The first happened at around 8:30 p.m. after someone called to complain about an erratic driver.

When officers found the suspect vehicle parked nearby, they say a man slumped over the steering wheel appeared to be asleep.

A 46-year-old Barrie man was charged with impaired operation.

Then at around 9:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of 4th Line and 5th Sideroad in Bradford West Gwillimbury, where a vehicle was in a ditch on private property.

“The driver showed clear signs of alcohol impairment and could not explain how the vehicle ended up in the ditch,” South Simcoe Police alleged in a news release.

A 73-year-old Tottenham man was charged with impaired operation and failing to surrender a licence.

In addition to the charges, both men lost their driver's licence for 90 days and the vehicles were impounded for a week.
