Dog dies, pedestrian sent to hospital after Dunlop Street crash

A man was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital with serious injuries

City police are investigating a single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and a dog on Dunlop Street West Friday night.

Officers could be seen taking measurements of the scene and the vehicle involved, a white Jeep SUV.

The incident happened on Dunlop Street West, just east of Anne Street, with police getting the call at 9:10 p.m. on Dec 22.

“A pedestrian was struck and his dog has passed away. He has been transported to Sunnybrook Hospital,” an officer at the scene told BarrieToday.

In a news release, police say the 46-year-old has serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle involved remained on-scene.

No charges have been laid, but an investigation by the Barrie police traffic unit is ongoing.

A section of Dunlop Street West between Anne Street and Boys Street re-opened at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
