Driver charged in January crash that killed 6-year-old Orillia girl

A Ramara Township man has been charged half a year after a young girl was killed in a collision in Orillia.

On Jan. 20, shortly before 5 p.m., emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle crash on Colborne Street at West Street.

Three pedestrians were taken to hospital, while six-year-old Avalon Jamieson died of her injuries.

In June, police concluded their investigation.

On Tuesday, Orillia OPP said James Bieser, 68, had been charged with careless driving causing death.

Bieser was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
