Driver flees crash scene. Charges follow

TINY TOWNSHIP - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched at 3:14 a.m. on June 9, 2018 to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into the south ditch on Balm Beach Road near Baseline Road, Tiny Township.

Attending officers were assisted by callers advising that the driver had left the scene. Investigators summoned the OPP K-9 to search the area for the driver and any other occupants who may have been in the vehicle.

Further investigation led police to a Tiny Township address where the driver and lone occupant were located. As a result of the investigation into the crash Alexander Henderson, 24 years of Tiny Township has been charged with the following charges

  • Public mischief contrary to section 140 (1) (c) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Careless driving contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario
  • Fail to remain contrary to section 200 (1) (a) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario
  • Fail to report contrary to section 199 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario

He was released on his own recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on July 26, 2018
