ORIGINAL STORY
The driver of a white pickup truck that ended up on its side in front of a home in Barrie’s north end is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries this afternoon.
Barrie police, city firefighters and county paramedics were called to the scene on Cundles Road East, near Blue Jay Drive, shortly after 9:40 a.m. on Nov. 25, confirmed Peter Leon, Barrie police’s communications co-ordinator.
A section of the road was closed to traffic this morning for the ongoing investigation, which is being conducted by the Barrie police traffic unit.
“They did have the road blocked off and I think they were just waiting to see if there were any changes in the person’s condition,” Leon said.
He said the person's gender, age or nature of the driver’s injuries were unknown at this point.
Photos from the scene showed tire marks in the front lawn of the home, pieces of broken fence on the ground and damage to the brickwork at the front of the home.
“The house where it came to rest did sustain some damage and I believe a structural engineer was being notified,” said Leon.
He also said no other injuries were reported, despite there being a sidewalk in front of the home.
The cause of the crash remains unknown.
