Driver seriously injured in Yonge St. crash

Collision at Yonge-7th Line intersection in Innisfil still under investigation, but police say charges are pending

A two-vehicle collision led to significant injuries for one driver in Innisfil on Monday evening.

South Simcoe police were called to the crash, which happened at the Yonge Street and 7th Line intersection, on June 24 at about 5:30 p.m.

Once on scene, officers determined a vehicle travelling north on Yonge struck a vehicle that was heading westbound on the 7th.

Traffic is permitted through on Yonge, with stop signs historically posted in both directions on the 7th as you approach the intersection.

One driver was extricated by Innisfil Fire and Rescue Service firefighters and transported to hospital by County of Simcoe paramedics with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.

At about 11:30 p.m., police say the driver's injuries had been upgraded and they were taken to a Toronto hospital for treatment.

The collision is still under investigation, but charges are pending, police say.
