Just hours after Barrie city police reported three Ford F150s had been stolen within a two-hour span last night, provincial police in neighbouring Dufferin County have a similar caper on their hands.

Dufferin OPP are investigating the theft of four pickup trucks from driveways at homes in Orangeville and Mono, which took place between Sunday evening and early Monday morning.

The vehicles that are part of the OPP investigation are described as:

  • 2023 black Ford F-150 crew cab bearing Ontario plate BV62917 from Perry Road in Orangeville
  • 2023 black Ford F-150 bearing Ontario plate BW34470 from Ashwood Drive in Mono
  • 2023 grey Ford F-150 bearing Ontario plate BX76254 from Meek Avenue in Mono
  • 2023 grey Ford F-150 bearing Ontario plate BT97565 from McMaster Road in Orangeville.

"Officers secured video surveillance where a dark colour sedan is observed pulling up to one of the residences," OPP said in a news release. "Two suspects are viewed exiting their vehicle and entering the stolen pickup. After a couple of minutes within the truck, they get it started and are viewed driving it out of the driveway.

The OPP investigation is also ongoing.

Here in Barrie, the three trucks were stolen from driveways while the owners slept.

Two of the stolen trucks were 2022 models and one was a 2023. One of the 2022 models which was stolen was a King Ranch model, red in colour, while the other 2022 F-150 stolen was blue. The lone 2023 truck stolen was black.

Two of these thefts occurred in the city's north end, in an area just east of the East Bayfield Community Centre, and the other occurred in a residential neighbourhood southeast of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.
