Innisfil Beach Road re-opens at Highway 400 after truck strikes overpass (update)

Roadway was closed for nearly two hours for debris clean-up

Update: A 55-year-old Severn Township man was charged with failure to report an accident and oversize vehicle - violate permit. He was released with a future court date.

Innisfil Beach Road was closed in both directions between the Highway 400 on- and off-ramps this afternoon for a crash investigation and debris clean-up. 

Around 1 p.m., Monday, South Simcoe police say an eastbound transport truck on Innisfil Beach Road struck the Highway 400 overpass.

The collision damaged the overpass and sent debris onto the road.

The truck driver was not injured, but Innisfil Beach Road was closed in both directions for nearly two hours. 

The road re-opened shortly before 3 p.m.

Ministry of Transportation officials attended the scene to assess the damage.
