A Tay Township man is facing impaired and drug charges after he was pulled over Thursday night for driving with his high beams on in Orillia.

Just after 10 p.m. on July 25, Orillia OPP officers were on patrol in the area of Coldwater Road and Emily Street when a vehicle approached them with its high beams on.

While officers were conducting the traffic stop, police say the vehicle hit the curb, according to a news release.

Police allege the driver was impaired and was on a suspension not to drive for the past 21 years.

Christopher Leduc, 46, of Victoria Harbour, has been charged with operation while impaired (alcohol and drugs), failure or refusal to comply with a demand, and possession of a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine).

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
