Man arrested on assault charge after injured woman found on street

ORILLIA - On Monday, June 26, 2017 the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an Assault at a residence on Front Street South in the City of Orillia.

At approximately 7 p.m. police responded to reports of an injured woman on Front Street South in the City of Orillia. When police arrived on the scene, a woman who had been assaulted was located. The woman was brought to an Orillia area hospital by Simcoe County Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

On July 2, 2017 members of the Orillia OPP Crime Unit arrested an18-year-old male with the following offences:

  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm Contrary to Section 267(b) of the Criminal Code.
  • Breach of Youth Probation Contrary to Section 137 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. (2 Counts)

The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on July 11, 2017.
