A Midland man faces an attempted-murder charge in connection with a weekend incident in a convenience store parking lot.

Jacob Thomas Wallis, 25, is also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and failing to stop at a crash scene resulting in bodily harm.

Wallis is being held for a bail hearing and will appear in court at a future date.

Police were called to a Midland Avenue parking lot early Saturday morning and began investigating what they believed was a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian seriously injured. The driver and the pedestrian had both left the scene before officers arrived shortly after 3 a.m.

Besides laying the attempted murder charge, police say officers also located the pedestrian, who they note is now receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained in the collision.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
