Today marks three months since Barrie resident Autumn Shaganash was reported missing to city police.
Shaganash, 26, was last seen leaving a family member's home on Friday, June 9 in Barrie's Allandale neighbourhood, near Burton Avenue and Frank's Way.
A missing person's investigation was launched on June 12, when local police were notified of her disappearance and a report was taken.
Shaganash's family remains hopeful as the police investigation continues.
“We have nothing. There’s no proof of anything," Shaganash's sister, Lili-Anne Moore, told BarrieToday in a phone interview.
“I’m so heartbroken,” she added. “I miss my sister. Her birthday is coming up on the 19th of September and she’ll be 27.”
There have been several police searches since Shaganash's disappearance, including Sunnidale Park and downtown Barrie, but as police have said in the past, she seems to have “vanished into thin air.” There have also been searches in downtown Toronto.
Meanwhile, city police continue their search.
“The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Barrie police or Crime Stoppers,” said Barrie police communications co-ordinator Jennett Mays.
Meanwhile, Moore says she stays in close contact with the police and has been satisfied with the investigation to date.
“I’m in touch with them almost every day, and I am speaking with them again (today),” she said. “I did do an interview again on Saturday with one of the detectives, just a face-to-face update. I just wanted to see them in person."
Moore says her family has been a source of support as well.
“A lot of my family were in Barrie with me,” she said. “Most of my family is from the north, six to 10 hours away. They were here for a while, but they went back a couple of weeks ago. I think they’re going to come back near the end of September, maybe to hang up some new posters and do whatever we can here.”
There is hope in Moore's voice as she tries to keep her sister's story in the public eye.
“We want to get it out there as much as we can. We are keeping everything up to date online so everyone can see, everyone can share," she said. “I just hope that everybody can share, and just keep sharing.
"We’re still trying to find her. We want her home."
