Motorcyclist flees scene after Hwy. 400 crash, police come up empty

Single-vehicle collision happened early this morning near Bayfield Street; Barrie police first on scene, searched immediate area and local hospital to no avail

Provincial police along with Barrie police are investigating a motorcycle crash early this morning on Highway 400 which saw the driver flee the scene on foot.

City police received the call at 12:07 a.m. on Aug. 8 and were first to respond to the single-vehicle collision in the southbound lanes of the highway near Bayfield Street.

The driver was not located after local officers conducted a patrol of the immediate area, and checked the local hospital, according to police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon.

The OPP took over the investigation with no luck locating the driver.

There were no indications as to the extent of injuries, if any, to the missing motorcyclist, according to police.
