BRADFORD - On Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at 7:55 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a Britannia Street address in Bradford. A man called and told the 9-1-1 operator that he had found two small children wandering alone in front of his home, without shoes.

Another neighbour recognized the children and officers went to their house. Despite knocking and numerous phone calls to the residence, an adult could not be roused. Concerned for the safety of the occupants, officers entered the home and found two adults asleep inside.

The two boys, a one-year-old and a two-year-old, were not harmed. Another child, a girl aged 5, was also in the home.

The 28-year-old mother of the children was charged with Fail To Provide the Necessities of Life. She will appear in court in August. The children went to a place of safety with other relatives.

Once again, the South Simcoe Police Service reminds parents that they are responsible for the safety and security of children in their care. Simple child safety locks help prevent children from wandering. We salute the actions of the citizens involved in finding these children.
