One person killed in two-vehicle crash involving motorcycle

An air ambulance lands at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie on Saturday following a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle west of the city.

One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in Springwater Township on Saturday.

According to Huronia West OPP, emergency crews responded to a serious collision involving a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle on George Johnston Road/County Road 28, near Sunnidale Road, around 5:45 p.m. on June 15.

Police say the 31-year-old passenger of the motorcycle was confirmed deceased at the scene by attending paramedics. 

The 41-year-old driver of the motorcycle was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and subsequently transported by air ambulance to a Toronto trauma centre.

The 71-year-old driver of the passenger vehicle was treated for minor injuries, police say.

George Johnston Road/County Road 28 was closed for several hours while a collision reconstructionist team measured and documented the scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
