One suspect arrested, another being sought in assault investigation

BRADFORD - On Tuesday, June 27, 2017, around 10 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a fight call in downtown Bradford.

Investigators located a number of witnesses and two victims. It (is alleged) that two male suspects had assaulted a man and a woman with a brick and an umbrella in retaliation for an earlier argument. The suspects fled before police arrived. The victims were treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.

Suspects were identified and later that afternoon and a 31-year-old Bradford man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon. He was released from custody on conditions to stay away from the victims while he awaits a court date.

His 33-year-old brother, a resident of Barrie, is also being sought on a charge of assault with a weapon. Officers anticipate an arrest today.
