Police are seeking the public's help to identify a suspicious vehicle (the green car in the background) and its driver following an incident in Oro-Medonte last week.

Orillia OPP hopes to locate a man who "aggressively" approached a local youth in Oro-Medonte last week, just outside Barrie.

Just after 9 a.m. on Sept. 11, police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle near Line 1 South, with the driver stopping and exiting his vehicle before approaching the youth in an “aggressive manner,” police report.

“There was a kid waiting for the bus … and the driver got out and approached the kid a little bit aggressively,” said Orillia OPP Const. Shelby Russell. “The kid did run away, but we're looking to identify the driver.”

Police describe the vehicle as an “older green car” and the suspect as non-white, approximately 30 to 40 years old, standing around five-foot-six with a slim build.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with Orillia OPP and the detachment's major crime unit requesting the public’s assistance with identifying the vehicle and driver.

“Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this, may have dash-cam footage or may have home security systems in the area to review it," the OPP stated in a news release.

Members of the public with information about the driver or suspected vehicle can contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-8477.
