OPP seizes 55 grams of cocaine, 17 grams of fentanyl in area bust

A man arrested on a Collingwood street last night now faces 10 criminal charges related to using credit cards, having stolen property and possession of cocaine and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking. 

Collingwood OPP officers were patrolling in town yesterday (Nov. 5) on Spruce Street around 9 p.m. when they arrested a man of no fixed address. 

"It was at this time when officers observed a male who had reasonable grounds for his arrest from an incident that occurred on Nov. 1, 2024," states a news release from Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP. "The male was arrested and subsequently searched during which time officers located and seized 55.1 grams of cocaine and 17.2 grams of fentanyl." 

Brian Zevenbergen, 38, has been charged with:

  • Use of credit card (four counts)
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 (four counts)
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)

The accused was transported to Collingwood detachment to be held for a virtual bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
