Orillia man accused of child luring, sexual assault facing new charge

An Orillia man accused of child luring and sexual assault is facing an additional charge after police say another victim came forward.

On Monday, police arrested Manuel Javier Marroquinn-Ramirez, 43. The former aquatics supervisor with the City of Orillia was charged after police “received information regarding a historical sexual assault and child luring incident” that occurred in 2021, Orillia OPP stated in a news release.

The accused was working at the Orillia Recreation Centre when it was alleged he offered alcohol to a youth in exchange for explicit images.

On Wednesday, another victim came forward to police, and Marroquinn-Ramirez has now been charged with forcible confinement.

The initial charges laid against him are as follows:

  • Luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication (three counts)
  • Communicating with anyone for the purpose of obtaining sexual services
  • Sexual exploitation
  • Sexual assault
  • Possession of child pornography
  • Selling or distributing to an individual under 19 years of age
  • Knowingly supplying liquor to person under 19 years of age
