Barrie police are investigating after a pickup truck was stolen from a home this morning in the Minet's Point area.

Officers responded to the call at 8:17 a.m. on July 30 after the owner notified police of the overnight theft from a residence on Gables Way in the city's south end.

The truck is described as a white 2023 Chevrolet Silverado, bearing Ontario licence plate BT84485.

Police say the truck was last seen in the home's driveway at approximately 11 p.m. Monday and discovered missing at 6 a.m.

Investigators say surveillance images suggest the theft occurred at 1:47 a.m., as flashing lights from the pickup were captured on video.

Anyone who sees the truck being operated on the road or abandoned is encouraged to call Barrie police at 705-725-7025.

"The Barrie Police Service is reminding the public, especially the owners of pickup trucks, to make sure the truck is always locked, if possible parked in a garage," police stated in a news release. Keep all key fobs in a Faraday bag or box and away from the front door, use steering-wheel locking devices, use a wheel chock lock, leave exterior lights on overnight, install surveillance cameras and using other cars if available, to block your pickup in the driveway are also strongly recommended."
