INNISFIL - On Monday, June 4, 2018 around 3 p.m., a citizen called South Simcoe Police Service to report an erratic driver in the area of Highway 89 and Yonge Street.

The caller provided the licence plate to police and said the vehicle had just entered the parking lot of the Tanger Outlet Mall.

Through police checks, officers learned the vehicle had been involved in multiple occurrences in York Region and the driver was believed to be wanted for a raft of charges including flight from police.

South Simcoe Police Service officers formulated a plan to conduct a high risk takedown of the vehicle and occupant in the parking lot.

As a result, a 23-year-old Jackson's Point man was arrested without incident. York Regional Police came to Innisfil to pick up the suspect. No injuries or property damage occurred as a result of this arrest.

South Simcoe Police would like to thank the citizen who called in to report this erratic driver. Through that person's actions, a peaceful arrest was made and a wanted person is in police custody.

The public is our eyes and ears and our communities are safer when we work together to make a difference.
