Police investigating car fire; racist graffiti left at scene

Barrie police are investigating a vehicle fire at a south-end residence where racist graffiti was also sprayed on the home's garage.
 
Officers responded to the scene shortly after 2:30 a.m. this morning in the area of D'Ambrosio Drive and Patton Road, near Yonge Street.  
 
"There were no injuries reported, but police are continuing to investigate," Barrie police spokesperson Jennett Mays said in an email to BarrieToday
 
Police did not comment on the graffiti, which said 'GO BACK.' 

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Deputy Fire Chief Carrie Clark said firefighters responded to a 911 call for a car on fire at 2:35 a.m. on May 16. 

Four firefighters arrived on scene in five minutes and had the blaze under control within three minutes of their arrival, Clark said.  

"The car was fully involved on arrival, but no heat or fire damage was noted elsewhere," she added. "Damage estimate would be value of car."

The scene was left to Barrie police for further investigation and fire crews left at 3:20 a.m.
