INNISFIL — On Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, just before midnight, South Simcoe Police were called to an Innisfil home for a domestic assault.

When they arrived on scene, they were approached by an agitated man who told them he had been assaulted by his wife and friend. When officers spoke to the man's wife, she told a different story.

All three people were in the garage when the man became upset after drinking, and threatened to kill his wife. When he tried to drive away, she took the keys from him, further angering him.

He twisted her arm behind her back to get the keys away from him. He went on to lock her inside the house and again assaulted her. While inside the home, he grabbed a loaded shotgun and held it to the woman's head.

The friend intervened and fought with the man over the gun. They were able to separate from the suspect until police arrived.

A 53-year-old Innisfil man was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing, charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of assault, two counts of point firearm, uttering threats, forcible confinement, weapons dangerous and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Neither victim required medical attention.
